SSC benchmark study carried out by Andersen Business Consulting for Invest in Denmark. A comparative benchmark study of eight major European cities viable for locating shared services centres, was carried out by Andersen Business Consulting in Brussels and Paris in cooperation with Invest in Denmark.
To conduct the benchmark, Andersen Business Consulting has projected the variable operating expenses of a theoretical shared services centre for both one-time costs and recurring costs calculated in Net Present Value over a five year time period.Furthermore, the benchmark study has assessed the potential locations' qualitative suitability. In order to assess the level of quality Andersen Business Consulting has used a weighting framework to score the relative strengths of the competing cities.
The result of the benchmark study illustrates that the strong rating of Copenhagen is related to the complexity of the shared services centre. The conclusion is that the more advanced the shared services centre is the more competitive Copenhagen is.
The key factors contributing to the strong rating of Copenhagen are its well-educated workforce, the flexibility of its labour market, the high productivity, the excellent quality of life and the low real estate costs.
