CSC is expected to eliminate about 1,800 jobs in North America by 2008. The company will implement the plan in two phases. Around 1,300 positions are expected to be eliminated by 2007, with the remaining 500 getting eliminated by 2008. At the same time, the company expects to hire about 2,000 persons in various low-cost countries by 2008. The restructuring exercise comes close on the first quarter loss of $55.3 million declared by the company last week.

As part of the restructuring plan, the company also anticipates closing some of its facilities. The restructuring exercise is expected to cost about $375 million to the company over the next two years.
