The London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham has signed up for a new £120 million project which will include the implementation of an e-procurement system, according to ComputerWeekly.com.
The project, which begins on the 1st of October, will see the installation of London's first shared service's center. The center, when fully operational, will take control of IT and assorted back office functions for several London boroughs.
Some 140 council staff will move to the new joint venture. It will be paid an initial flat rate of £12 million a year over the next ten years. Hammersmith and Fulham council expects the new way of operating will save money as it progresses over time.
In addition to an e-procurement solution, the joint venture company will also provide the council's OLAS finance system and the Trent human resources system from supplier Midland.
