Steria, a leading end-to-end European IT services provider, has been awarded a five year contract, worth at least €9 million, to supply a fully managed ICT service to Bristol International Airport (BIA).
The contract forms a strategic element of BIA's expansion plans which involve doubling passenger numbers from 4.5 million in 2004 to 9 million in 2015, ensuring the airport continues to be one of the fastest growing in the UK. Ultimately, passengers will benefit as the contract will deliver a range of new and improved services allowing for a more enjoyable and smoother transfer through the airport.

Under the agreement, Steria will take over the management of the airport's IT infrastructure and business applications. With business growth and transformation as the driver for the contract, innovation and new technologies form a key element of BIA's expansion strategy.
The contract went live mid June 2006. This begins the six month transition of responsibility for existing IT services to Steria and will also see the transfer of BIA staff to Steria under a TUPE agreement.
Steria was selected following a rigorous procurement process that involved the agreement of BIA's major shareholders Macquarie and Ferrovial.
This is the second time that Steria and BIA have worked together. Indeed, BIA called on Steria in 1999 to update its business application, ManagAirport™, an airport information and management system designed to manage resources (runways, conveyors, luggage, etc.) in line with flight plans, provide information for passengers and partners and control the quality of airport services information management system.
