Mark Hodges

Mark is the acknowledged “father of BPO.” Prior to forming EquaTerra, Mark established and led TPI’s BPO practice in his role as Managing Partner of BPO. In a two year period, Mark grew the practice from zero to where it represented more than 15% of TPI’s revenue. He was also responsible for TPI’s Strategy & Corporate Development function.
Before TPI, Mark was Vice President of Strategy & Corporate Development for Exult, Inc., the first HR BPO company. The company reached $270 million in revenue at the time of Mark’s departure. Prior to joining Exult, Mark was the Worldwide Director of Gartner’s Dataquest IT Services (ITO and BPO) Vendor Group. Before Gartner, Mark was COO of G2 Research, Inc. (G2R), a market research and consulting firm where he spent 11 years before he and the CEO sold the firm to Gartner in January 1999.
Mark is a regular speaker at global BPO industry events such as The Conference Board’s Shared Services Conference, the HR Outsourcing Summit and others. Mark is a monthly columnist for both HR Executive Magazine and HR Outsourcing Today. He sits on two industry advisory boards the HROA (HR Outsourcing Association) and SharedXpertise. Mark graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Political Economies of Industrial Societies (Economics and Political Science).
