Peter Ackerson

Peter is a Human Resource professional with extensive experience in Human Resources, HR delivery, shared services, and the use of technology in Human Resources, has more than 30 years of experience in a variety of leadership roles. Peter has the unique perspective of understanding the delivery of Human Resources services from the traditional internal viewpoint, and also the service provider perspective - having managed both - in a Fortune 50® consumer retail corporation, as well as with a start-up Business Process Outsourcing firm.

Peter has managed the delivery of HR services for Sears Roebuck and Co., Exult, and is currently in the Human Capital Operations and Technology Practice of Deloitte Consulting LLP. In 1996, he became the Director of HR Services for Sears, having been a senior HR generalist at Regional and National levels, as well as having Director level assignments in Corporate Strategic Planning and Store Administration. After leaving Sears, Ackerson joined Exult, then a start-up firm in the field of HR outsourcing. As one of the original employees, and as a member of the Operating Committee, he helped design the processes and organization that led to the acquisition of their first major clients, including BP and Bank of America. He built out and staffed Exult's first two service centers in Houston, TX and Glasgow, Scotland. Later, as Vice-President for Client Service Center Development he initiated many process improvement projects including a Six Sigma Initiative. He is now a member of Deloitte’s Human Capital Practice and is involved in both HR-BPO and Shared Services advisory services.

Ackerson has an extensive involvement in various HR Professional organizations and has been called upon often to speak as an expert at various events. These organizations include: Society for Human Resource Management, the International Association for Human Resource Information Management, and the Shared Services and Business Process Outsourcing Association, where he is a board member. He is accredited by the Human Resource Certification Institute as a Senior Professional in Human Resources, SPHR. He is the author of numerous articles on HR Outsourcing.
