IBM Brazil building momentum, plans to add 1,000 employees in 2006

The Brazilian unit of IBM plans to hire 1,000 new employees before the end of 2006, reported local financial newspaper Valor Econmico.
The new contracts are necessary because Brazil is the leader in Latin America for the supply of outsourcing services, according to IBM's director for Latin America, Juan Fernandez Oliva.
"We are looking at some IBM practices in the US and Europe to implement in Brazil. Our aim is to increase our export of services even more," said Oliva. Currently IBM's Brazilian operation accounts for nearly 8,000 employees.
For 2006, IBM intends also to increase outsourcing contracts, with companies such as telco Embratel and Dutch bank ABN Amro.
