Malaysia ready to move up the outsourcing value chain

Malaysian outsource service providers should concentrate on providing higher value project management services for their customers in order to stay ahead of the increasingly competitive outsourcing business in the region. This was the call from Mike New, Southeast Asia managing director for Mercury Interactive, at a presentation held in Kuala Lumpur last month.
According to AT Kearney, Malaysia is the world’s third location for shared services and oustsourcing, behind India and China. IDC released a report last month, indicating that the enterprisewide outsourcing services market is expected to grow by 26 percent; and this growth will overtake the hardware maintenance market by 12 percent.
