Five agencies have been selected to be Shared Service Center providers under the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) Human Resources Line of Business (HR LOB), the OPM announced Aug. 23.
The centers are “to provide the federal HR community with sophisticated, progressive, fast-paced work environments that leverage economies of scale in delivering administrative functions, to dramatically reduce costs and streamline process and response time, and increase the quality and consistency of service provided,” HR LOB director Norm Enger said earlier this year.
Named as center providers were the departments of Agriculture (through its National Finance Center), Defense, Health and Human Services, Interior (through its National Business Center), and Treasury.
“The selection of the Shared Service Center (SSC) providers will lead to better services and most innovative solutions with the lowest cost. These centers will provide business and technology solutions to support multiple agencies,” Enger said in a press release.
The HR LOB’s purpose is to create governmentwide, modern, cost-effective, standardized and interoperable HR solutions to support the strategic management of human capital.
