As previously reported, Capgemini UK plc will become the new provider of information communication technology services to the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). The contract was formally signed this week by the Metropolitan Police Authority (which has overall responsibility for the budget of the MPS) and Capgemini UK plc. Capgemini UK plc leads CUBIT, its collaboration with Unisys and BT, and has also signed subcontracts with these collaboration partners.
Under the seven–year contract, worth approximately £350 million, the CUBIT collaboration will supply information communication technology services to the MPS. These services will include management and support of desktop IT networks, telephony and mobile devices, which includes around 30,000 desktops and laptops, 38,000 telephone extensions and 8,500 mobile phones. The contract will also cover the support of over 50 MPS software applications relating to crime reporting information, analysis and records storage.
The majority of contract services will be provided by Capgemini UK plc, winners of this year’s UK National Outsourcing Association ‘Outsourcing Services Provider of the Year’ award. Unisys will provide applications management and support, some datacenter services and desktop support, with BT managing and supporting the MPS Wide and Local Area Networks (WAN & LAN) and telephony and mobile services.
