The Czech subsidiary of General Electric has decided to expand its activities in the Czech Republic.
The new customer support centre of GE Money Multiservis for Czech and Slovak clients will be located in Ostrava (Moravia-Silesia region) and will provide work for up to 500 qualified staff members. The total investment exceeds three million euro. Commencement of operations is scheduled for the second quarter of 2006.„Our primary reason for opening the new centre is the growth of GE Money in the Czech Republic,“ says Jiri Pathy, Chairman of the Board and General Director of GE Money Multiservis, the company in charge of developing the new centre within GE Money group. „In order to maintain a high standard of services, we will gradually increase the number of staff who are responsible for operating GE Money group and caring for its customers. The new customer service centre allows us to continue to fully meet our customers‘ needs,“ adds Jiri Pathy.
The scope of activities of the new customer support centre comprises credit portfolio management, customer service, collection of claims, and operation of a toll-free information hotline for customers.
„The major benefit of this project is clearly the creation of several hundred new job opportunities in a region that has been suffering from high unemployment rates for a long time. Beyond that, the fact that a company with the credentials of General Electric establishes a customer support centre in Ostrava, of all locations, lends this region additional appeal in the eyes of other investors in the service industry,“ explains Karolina Bockova, Deputy CEO for Operational Management at CzechInvest and adds:“It is very important that new investors are no longer just looking to the Czech Republic for cheap labour. We have a different policy and the arrival of this company only confirms that we have chosen the right path.”
Construction of the new building will be commended in Ostrava – Hrabová this month already, i.e. in June 2005. The developer is CTP; the project has been designated „AXIS Park“. Job interviews for the staff of the Ostrava-based customer support centre should begin in the second half of this year already.
