It’s probably safe to say that the world rediscovered China in the latter part of 2002. Since the previous bubble came to a screeching halt in the mid-1990s, the mainland economy had been essentially lying fallow: subpar growth,widespread layoffs and unemployment, banks left with a crushing bad loan hangover, farmers with stagnant incomes and state enterprises shutting their doors.
