Metropolitan Police to benefit from sophisticated pay and pensions outsourcing solution

Following a strong procurement competition, the petropolitan Police Authority (MPA) has selected LogicaCMG to provide a fully-integrated, managed payroll and pensions administration service for the 46,000 police officers and staff of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).

The selection of LogicaCMG and its pensions administration partner, Paymaster, provides the MPS with one provider for pay and pensions going forward. The contract, worth approximately GBP31 million over a 7-year period, offers a resilient and flexible solution that will provide additional benefits through greater use of IT systems.

LogicaCMG’s HR outsourcing capabilities will play a critical role in helping the MPS to develop and manage its pay and benefits offerings, providing the potential for a range of enhanced self-service options for employees. Through access to LogicaCMG’s state-of-the-art technology and payroll solutions, which have been developed specifically for the public sector, the MPS and its employees will be able to tailor compensation and benefits packages, significantly aiding staff motivation and retention

Gary Austin, managing director for LogicaCMG Enterprise Services, said, "Across the private and public sectors, 2005 is the year in which organisations will focus more on the relationship they have with employees. Staff motivation and retention has never been higher on the agenda and HR outsourcing of this nature presents a powerful opportunity for organisations to reduce the administrative burden on HR personnel. At the same time, HRO provides a flexible platform around which to build a more dynamic and efficient HR function, creating enormous opportunities for HR to deliver greater strategic value."
