EquaTerra Europe appoints European outsourcing expert as Managing Director

EquaTerra Europe, the European subsidiary of EquaTerra, a multi-national outsourcing and insourcing advisory firm, today announced it has appointed Nick Andrews Managing Director.
Nick, a European outsourcing authority with more than two decades of expertise, brings an impressive background in outsourcing strategy, negotiations, contract management services, BPO business development, and corporate development in Europe and Asia. His role will be to lead client acquisition efforts utilizing the solution-oriented outsourcing and insourcing methodologies EquaTerra designed for long-term business process success.Highlights of Nick’s career include:
- Founding partner of ALS Consulting Ltd., an outsourcing advisory firm based in the U.K.
- Partner at Ernst & Young, responsible for overseeing large scale consulting and outsourcing opportunities worldwide and, responsible for growing its European Outsourcing Practice
- Andersen Consulting, Associate Partner, Head of Business Development for large scale outsourcing and business integration opportunities, leading outsourcing service offering in Western Europe
- EDS, serving as senior negotiator for new business opportunities in the U.K., throughout Europe and in the Far East
Mark Toon, CEO of EquaTerra, offered, “Nick is the ideal choice to lead EquaTerra Europe due to his proven ability to guide clients toward successful business transformation solutions.” Toon feels the EquaTerra consultative approach will enable EquaTerra Europe to leverage the projected growth in BPO and ITO.
Commenting on the state of Europe’s outsourcing market, Stratos Sarissamlis, META Group’s Vice President of Technology Research Services, said, “Outsourcing has become a permanent feature of business strategy across Europe, with many enterprises extending sourcing strategy implementation to business process outsourcing (BPO) services often embracing business transformation initiatives. Through 2007, we expect horizontal services (F&A, HR, SCM, and customer interaction centers) and transaction–based processing–type deals to drive 12 percent CAGR in the European BPO services market. In this maturing market, users will increasingly seek external support to assess BPO options and determine how to realize the full potential while mitigating incurred risks.”
EquaTerra Europe recently added advisors with, significant IT outsourcing, HR outsourcing, Finance & Accounting (FAO) outsourcing and shared services expertise. Several of its senior advisors include:
- Tim Palmer, who brings more than 15 years of sourcing experience to his new role as HR Practice Lead for EquaTerra’s European office. He has significant expertise in HR solution planning, including the use of co-sourcing, outsourcing and international shared services. He also has experience in Finance and Accounting, Procurement, Logistics and IT outsourcing. He has worked extensively across Europe and North America. Prior to joining EquaTerra, Tim was the Chief Business Architect of Accenture HR Services.
- Alan Hopwood possesses nearly three decades of expertise in helping companies align their IT strategy to their business needs, to improve revenue growth and profitability. Before joining EquaTerra, Alan held a number of executive IT positions at Shell and its various operating divisions. Roles at Shell included: CIO for Shell HR Services, where he was responsible for all IT in support of HR services, developing Shell’s HR-IT strategy, overseeing 200 staff members and an annual budget of $35 million.
- Mike Gibbs, who has more than 25 years of worldwide expertise in, Europe, Africa and the Americas, in outsourcing, program management, shared services, personnel management, operations, IT and strategy. Before EquaTerra, Mike was Director, Analysis & Planning of Overseas Operations for Exult. Operating out of London and Glasgow, he was responsible for reviewing the HR processes in numerous countries, made strategic recommendations, and developed plans for integration into Exult’s HR outsourcing operations.
- Michael Goodwin, who possesses more than 25 years of outsourcing and related industry expertise. Prior to joining EquaTerra, Mike was Manager of Business Solution Development, EMEA – as well as project manager on several client engagements – for FAO service provider SourceNet Solutions UK Ltd. His responsibilities included: implementation of monitoring controls, formalization of base AP policies with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent application; and managing the implementation and rollout throughout the U.K. and Ireland of a fully integrated, web-based employee expenses reimbursement system.
EquaTerra’s U.S. headquarters is in New York City, and its European headquarters is in Brussels. The company also has regional offices in Chicago, Dallas, Houston and London.
