Doug Sawers has over 10 years’ experience of running companies in the services sector, most recently with the billion pound turnover company lastminute.com. He is a proven customer services leader, growing businesses both organically and through mergers and acquisitions.

Most importantly he is a proven people manager, leading and inspiring from the front. He will join Ceridian full time on March 1, 2005, after spending some time with the company on transition activities during January and February.

Bruce Thew, Ceridian International President and Managing Director of Ceridian Centrefile, will be transitioning out of the company beginning in January, to pursue new challenges.

Nigel Polglass, Ceridian Vice President UK and Deputy Managing Director of Ceridian Centrefile, will be acting Managing Director during January and February, prior to Doug Sawers taking up his appointment on 1 March.

Bo Ewald, President - Ceridian Human Resource Services, says: “Bruce has been a valued member of the Ceridian global management team, leading our international businesses outside the US as we become a major player in the emerging Human Resource Outsourcing (HRO) market.

“Over the past eight years he has grown Ceridian Centrefile from a £20 million to a £55 million business, establishing it as one of the UK’s leading providers of managed HR services. As a strong believer in the value of people, he is justifiably proud that Ceridian Centrefile has been included for the past two years in The Sunday Times’ prestigious list of the UK’s 100 Best Companies to Work For.

“I wish Bruce well in the future with his career and look forward to working with Doug to build an even stronger Ceridian brand in the HRO marketplace in UK and globally.”

Bruce Thew says: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my eight years with Ceridian, but have decided it is now time to enjoy some new challenges. I am proud to leave behind me a business enjoying one of its best years ever, including record sales in both Canada and Europe backed by record profits. I am confident that the business will go from strength to strength under the global leadership of Bo Ewald.”

Doug Sawers says: “I’m delighted to be joining Ceridian Centrefile on 1 March. The company has a fantastic track record of successful growth and an enviable reputation in the HR services sector. I have been particularly struck by the excitement and pride with which the senior management team talk about the business, and their emphasis on the value of the company’s people in cementing this success.“
