The Hackett Group, an Answerthink company, launched a new Web portal that streamlines and speeds up the benchmarking process for organizations that collect data from multiple locations.
The new Web portal, which can be accessed from Hackett's public Web site of http://www.thehackettgroup.com, is an information resource on world-class business performance. It provides Hackett clients with improved access to best practice research backed by data, and offers enhanced benchmark project management and online inquiry capabilities. The Hackett Group, a business advisory firm, is a world leader in best practices research and process benchmarking, helping executives achieve world-class performance through continuous improvement initiatives. Hackett offers analysis backed by research at more than 2,400 client organizations, including 93 percent of the Dow Jones Industrials.
Hackett's portfolio of over twelve functional and deep-dive process benchmarks are measurement tools that offer companies detailed analyses of the business value provided by their finance, IT, HR, procurement, or shared services organizations and overall Sales, General & Administrative (SG&A) processes. Hackett benchmarks enable clients to compare themselves at a business process level to world-class performers and identify specific performance improvement opportunities. The benchmarks also provide a detailed assessment of how well clients are leveraging Hackett-certified practices to increase efficiency, enhance strategic effectiveness, and improve return on investment. The benchmarks create an independent empirically driven performance improvement target that can be used by clients to initiate a multi-year or continuous performance improvement program.
Hackett's Business Advisory Services (BAS) complement the benchmark offerings with premium-value, membership-based executive programs that offer personalized access to:
-- Confidential, one-on-one telephone inquiry service with Hackett business advisors
-- Best practice research and analyses
-- A comprehensive online knowledge repository of Hackett-certified practices and performance metrics
-- Conferences, Webcasts, and other opportunities for peer learning.
"Hackett's benchmarks provide companies with actionable insight. But the logistics can be challenging, particularly since it's not unusual for a Hackett benchmark client to collect detailed data such as costs, volumes, staff counts, and best practices from hundreds of locations worldwide," said Hackett's Chief Research Officer Richard Roth. "Our new Web portal addresses this, by enabling clients to distribute benchmarks virtually across their organization, then track in real-time what progress is being made completing the benchmark and what results individual portions of their organization are providing. With the new Web portal, clients have more control and can complete our benchmarks more quickly and accurately. Plus, our built-in analysis capabilities mean they can start garnering knowledge virtually from day one.
"For our Business Advisory clients, the new Web portal puts the information they need at their fingertips," said Roth. "Our improved user interface and powerful new search engine, driven by Hackett's rigorous process definitions, makes it easy for clients to use Hackett's vast repository of certified best practices to find the answers they need to solve specific problems."
Streamlined On-line Benchmarking Tools
Hackett's new proprietary on-line benchmarking tools, which are an integrated part of the new Web portal, are designed to address the needs of multinational distributed companies. Questions or groups of questions can be assigned to individual locations or employees for completion. Companies conducting multiple Hackett functional and process benchmarks simultaneously can integrate and distribute what were previously separate studies, saving time and eliminating duplication of effort.
During the data collection process, managers use the new portal to review the project's progress by location or question set while identifying problem responses. Embedded validation routines also improve data quality while Hackett's benchmarking tool reconciles global currencies automatically. Security features ensure that users only have access to authorized data. Managers can generate reports as data is being collected, enabling them to identify areas for improvement even before the benchmark is completed. Once the benchmark is completed, clients can use comprehensive analysis tools and reports to garner maximum insight.
As part of their annual membership, clients of Hackett's Executive Advisory Programs can also use the new portal to input data and view results of quarterly scorecards that compare their performance to world-class and peer companies across a range of high-level metrics. These scorecards can play a key role in helping companies build a ongoing continuous improvement program to drive towards world-class performance.
Improved Access to Hackett Research
Members of Hackett's Business Advisory Services programs will find the Web portal's new layout and advanced search capabilities facilitate access to research and data. Hackett's most commonly requested research is available from the opening screen viewable by Business Advisory members. The Web portal's enhanced search capabilities are driven by Hackett's comprehensive classification and organization of business functions, processes, and sub-processes. It enables clients to do a single search that incorporates virtually all of Hackett's research, world-class profile reports, best practice libraries, and content from peer learning events such as annual conferences and Webcasts. Users can also refine and filter their initial searches to get the precise answers they need.
