Accounts payable, inventory turns, defect rates, customer satisfaction. Those are the kinds of processes and metrics that we typically associate with benchmarking. These measures have easily defined parameters, and just about every organization measures them, which makes them good candidates for setting benchmarks and identifying leading practices. But what about areas like competitive intelligence and employee education? Can marketing skills and competencies or knowledge management be benchmarked?
