Chamber body Assocham's survey on Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) among 243 firms in India has found that the majority of respondents expect outsourcing services to grow by over 15 per cent annually, even as an overwhelming 85 per cent respondents felt that steps taken by the Government were inadequate.
As many as 92 per cent of respondents felt that their overall use of outsourcing would increase over time, and the study validates the view that India is in the midst of a BPO revolution, it said."Moreover, nearly 75 per cent of the respondents expect the outsourcing services to grow by more than 15 per cent per annum," Assocham's nation-wide survey amongst 243 top decision making executives from a range of service industries pointed out.
The study, however, found an overwhelming 85 per cent of respondents to be of the view that steps taken by the government were inadequate and some more initiatives needed to be introduced to enable a sustainable growth for these services.
Amongst the government initiatives proposed in the Report for the Steering Committee on Communications and Information (2002-07), it was felt by 64 per cent of the respondents that a mechanism of a Single Window clearance for IT-enabled service industry and flexible labour laws can propel India to be an undisputed leader in BPO services.
